London Road Sewer Improvements

94m of 525mm concrete sewer pipe laid ‘off line’, with one new manhole and one replacement both 1500mm diameter. One 6m deep backdrop.
105m of 525mm concrete sewer ‘on line replacement’ including connections to 12 laterals and two replacement 1500mm manholes.
4m of 300mm overflow connection between two existing manholes.
The average depth of excavation being 2.8m.
Full road closure along the busy A269 along with a lengthy diversion.
Access had to be maintained for local residents. which was to be carried out over an 8 week duration.
Additional Scope:
- Road closure could only operate for 5 weeks during the summer holidays.
- Replacement of backdrop manhole with new 7m deep 1800mm rings.
- 38m of 300mm UPVC online replacement of collapsed sewer.
- 10m 225mm UPVC sewer and 1200mm manhole.
- Removal of 40m x 3m concrete road underlying existing tarmac road.
Success
- Health, safety and the environment was top priority.
- This contract was carried out within the time constraints, within budget and without any damage to existing service crossings. There were also no complaints from the residence.
- After completion of the works, a letter of commendation was received by the Client from ESCC Highways.
