Description
Construction of new road to replace the existing access road, endangered by coastal erosion.
9,000m3 of material was excavated, including almost 4,000m3 of Blue Lias limestone.
On-site crushing and screening plant was used to recycle the excavated rock for use in the capping and sub-base layers of the new road and for use as a drainage filter material.
All works were completed in a 12 week programme.
The new surfacing included a fuel-resistant SMA surface course, also proposed by Dyer & Butler to better suit the location and end use.
